Our Process at CoirRoots

Step 1: Purchasing of Coconuts

We begin our sustainable journey by sourcing high quality coconut husks from trusted suppliers within Sri Lanka’s renowned coconut triangle.
This region provides the finest raw coconut husks rich in coir fiber and pith. Our procurement process ensures only matured coconuts are selected to extract optimumgrade coir for horticultural applications such as grow bags and cocopeat blocks.
Step 2: Coconut Husk Processing

In this stage, the raw husks undergo a thorough mechanical defibering process where the fibers are separated from the coir pith. This crucial step transforms raw coconut husks into usable coir materia llaying the foundation for producing premium cocopeat, coir chips and coir fiber.
All processing is done using environmentally conscious methods, ensuring minimal waste and maximum resource efficiency.
Step 3: Washing of Cocopeat

The extracted cocopeat is washed with clean water to remove salts and other impurities. This step is vital for producing low EC (electrical conductivity) cocopeat suitable for sensitive crops and hydroponic farming.
Our washing process enhances the quality of the coir substrate making it ideal for greenhouse growers looking for reliable, pH-balanced grow mediums.
Step 4: Drying

After washing, the cocopeat is carefully sun-dried or machine dried under controlled conditions to maintain its natural composition.
Proper drying ensures consistent moisture content and prevents microbial growth. This step is crucial in preparing stable and long lasting coir based growing media that meet international agricultural standards.
Step 5: Sorting

The dried material is sorted by particle size and texture to ensure consistency in the final product. Whether it’s fine cocopeat for seed starters or a custom blend for hydroponics, our sorting process guarantees uniformity.
This step enhances the efficiency and predictability of our substrates making them suitable for a wide range of crops and cultivation methods.
Step 6: Sifting and Shielding

At this stage, the dried cocopeat is carefully sifted through industrial-grade mesh systems to remove large particles, stones, and foreign contaminants. The fine grade cocopeat that passes through the sieve ensures uniform texture and consistency making it ideal for open top bags, coir grow bags, coir bales, coir briquettes, coir discs and hydroponic substrates.
This precision filtering improves aeration and drainage properties, critical for root development and healthy plant growth.
Step 7: Mixing of Cocopeat, Coco Chips and Coco Coir

Depending on customer requirements, CoirRoots blends sifted cocopeat with varying proportions of coco chips and coir fibers. This step is tailored to meet crop specific needs whether you’re growing tomatoes in greenhouses or floriculture crops in open fields.
The mixture balances water retention, drainage and root anchorage. We also provide buffered or custom formulated coir substrates to meet precise nutrient absorption and EC level demands.
Step 8: Compaction of Substrate

The blended substrate undergoes hydraulic compression into specific shapes blocks, bricks, grow bags or open top bags. This compaction is done with precision to preserve the structure and aeration quality of the coir material. Each compressed product is designed for easy rehydration and expansion at the grower’s site saving time and labor.
Step 9: Quality Testing

Every batch of coir substrate undergoes rigorous quality assurance tests to meet ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OMRI standards. We check for parameters such as EC levels, pH balance, moisture content and physical consistency.
Our quality control ensures that all CoirRoots products deliver dependable performance, making them a preferred choice for commercial greenhouse growers worldwide.
Step 10: Pack and Dispatch

The final coir based growing media is hygienically packed in eco friendly, labeled packaging based on client requirements whether it’s shrink wrapped pallets, bales, or custom printed bags. Our logistics team coordinates secure, timely global dispatch via land and sea freight.
With bulk export capacity and worldwide shipping experience, CoirRoots ensures your coir substrate arrives intact, on time and ready to perform.
